The Last Days of Liccardo

D3 residents may have noticed a local article prompted by an email I sent to my supporters. I am an independent agent of change working solely for the betterment of D3 and I will collaborate with anyone, at anytime if it means we get a solution that improves the Quality of Life for all who call D3 home. The email is below, so you can read the media coverage in full context.

Bold Leadership v Legacy of Failure

Friends,

The stakes in this race just got a lot higher — and a lot more compelling.

You may have heard that our outgoing Mayor (he leaves his post at the end of the year) has endorsed our new neighbor, Joanna Rauh in the District 3 race.

There are three big takeaways for us:

Rauh is now tied to Liccardo’s legacy of failure. Rauh represents a continuation of the disrespect shown by City Leadership in ignoring our neighborhoods’ needs. During Liccardo’s tenure as both Councilmember and Mayor, we’ve tolerated an avoidable flood, increased street crimes, multitudes of fires, and unmitigated blight. Has your quality of life gotten better or worse in the time that Liccardo’s been in elected office? Make no mistake, Rauh now runs to continue the status quo and do his bidding as his handpicked successor.

Our platform of upending the status quo with bold new plans is needed more than ever before. Please read about my most recent proposals, all informed by my Swiss Army Knife mix of skills from my careers in law, counseling, small business, and as a housing provider:

An incremental (and more economical) approach to solving homelessness
Incremental Ladder of Housing Success

Getting resident input to City Hall Planning
An Office of Public Outreach: Improving citizen input, City outreach and trust in government

Fixing the Siting Policy so that it works for all of San José
What makes the Siting Policy so Confusing & How to Fix It

We are up against some mighty big war chests and entrenched political insiders who have an interest in this race. Establishment Labor has endorsed Omar Torres. Another endorsement in D3, Liccardo, Inc. is propping up Joanna Rauh in his attempt to expand his relevancy after he terms out. I upended these plans by running as the true independent candidate working with all sides. I’m running to represent you and our neighbors and break the status quo. I’m running to improve our quality of life and bring real positive change for our neighborhoods.

Let’s be clear-eyed: this race will get expensive very quickly as Big Money tries to buy this election. We will need your continued support. Please join our team of local business and neighborhood leaders in helping us change the status quo so that we can make D3 what it should be: the best place in San José to raise a family and start a business.

Can you help us push back against entrenched political insiders with a donation? Any amount ranging from $20, $50, $100, and more will help us maintain our lead.

Thank you for your continued support.
